On the 24th of Feburary, Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin announced that Canada will not participate in our ballistic missile defense program. Ok, we knew they were cagey about this. We knew the program was not overly popular. But the whole idea of Canada not participating seemed so wacky, that I figured eventually they would come around. Looks like that's not going to happen. Martin was initially supportive of the BMD program, but as opposition in Canada mounted, it seems he really didn't do much to make a case for it, and has finally rolled over for domestic political convenience.

But then everything starts to gets slightly surreal.

If you've been kind enough to leave a comment recently, you may have noticed the large gap between when you post and when someone on our end checks it to see if it from a person or a spambot. This process should move a lot quicker now. It seems a bug was introduced into MovableType with version 3.14 that broke e-mail notification of comments from un-registered posters. I've installed a plug-in that should restore that function and it seems to be working. My apologies for the delay in getting this fixed.

Just found out the trailer for the US release of the new Appleseed movie is available now. I've been looking forward to this since I first saw the Japanese version about a year ago. According to the official (and noisy) website, it's out in something like five theatres, so unless the local arthouse snags a copy, it looks I'll be waiting for DVD.
