WombatZone Fall Down, Go Boom

| | Comments (0)

We suffered a web hosting casualty some time late in the day on October 22nd. This took out all our site's files and e-mail. We were finally able to get e-mail back up on the morning of the 24th, but any messages between the start of the outage on the 22nd and around 11am on the 24th were either lost or bounced back as undeliverable.

At this time, we think we've gotten everything back in order. Since we had to reload the site from scratch anyway, we went ahead and updated Movable Type to 3.33 and started playing around with the widget features. If something doesn't appear to be working, please let us know.

We've updated to Movable Type 3.31

We've updated to Movable Type 3.31. That's all really. There are some new features for tagging and site layout we'll be playing with later this week.

Updated to Movable Type 3.2

We've updated to Movable Type 3.2 and so far it seems to work quite nicely. I'm particularly happy with the new trackback management features, which should help eliminate all of the trackback spam we've been seeing. The new theme manager is also a welcome addition. While everything seems to be going smoothly, if you notice something out of whack, please let us know and we'll get it addressed.

New entry notifications work now

We've upgraded to MovableType 3.16, which fixes several bug, including one that was preventing new entry notifications from working. From the main index, you can now sign up to receive an e-mail whenever we add a new entry.

RSS and Atom feeds are, of course, still available.

Comment notifications fixed

| | Comments (0)

If you've been kind enough to leave a comment recently, you may have noticed the large gap between when you post and when someone on our end checks it to see if it from a person or a spambot. This process should move a lot quicker now. It seems a bug was introduced into MovableType with version 3.14 that broke e-mail notification of comments from un-registered posters. I've installed a plug-in that should restore that function and it seems to be working. My apologies for the delay in getting this fixed.

Ok, we are now WAP-accesible thanks to these nice instructions and templates from the fellow running Symbian Diaries.

Please direct your phones to http://www.wombatzone.com/index.wml if you are so inclined.

Small steps, small steps

Ok, let's see if we have scheduled posting working.
